Disney Animations

In class we looked at some Disney Animations to try and get some ideas of the features and techniques that create and add to the animation.

The first animation we looked at was 'Lifted':



Some of the features were:

• Anticipation
• Setting the scene
• Offset positioning
• Fast paced camera angles
• Exaggerated movements
• Juxtaposition of sound
• Music syncs to action
• Long distance shots to show setting
• Camera moves with action (e.g. moves out with boy)
• Pause in camera's - anticipation again
• Slow motion - reinforces motion

The second animation we looked at was 'Oktapodi':



Some of the features were:

• Anticipation
• Exaggeration
• Dramatic/Emotional (e.g. sound)
• Fast paced camera angles
• Tension
